Overrun Clutch Solenoid Valve
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Infiniti QX4, 2001 Nissan Pathfinder, and 2001 Infiniti QX4. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
Forward one-way clutch is used to reduce shift shock during downshifts. Forward clutch transmits engine torque to rear wheels. Drive force from rear wheels is not transmitted to engine during coasting, because one-way clutch is ineffective. This results in no engine braking. Overrun clutch is operated when engine braking is needed. Solenoid is closed when energized (on).
