Diagnostic Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Infiniti QX4, 2001 Nissan Pathfinder, and 2001 Infiniti QX4. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Check continuity between TCM terminal No. 33 and ECM terminal No. 114. If continuity exists, go to next step. If not, repair or replace harness or connector as necessary.
  2. Perform self-diagnosis. See RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If okay, go to next step. If not, repair as necessary.
  3. Perform FLASH CODE CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE . If okay, repair is complete. If not, perform TCM input/output signal inspection. See PIN VOLTAGE TESTS . If any voltage measured is not as specified, check TCM connector terminals for damage or loose connection to harness connector. Repair as necessary.
