O/D OFF Indicator Light Does Not Come On

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Infiniti QX4, 2001 Nissan Pathfinder, and 2001 Infiniti QX4. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Measure voltage (backprobe) between TCM harness connector terminals No. 10, 19, 28 and ground. If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, inspect circuits between TCM and ignition switch. Repair as necessary.
  2. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect TCM connector. Check for open, short to ground and short to voltage between TCM harness connector terminals No. 25 and 48 and ground. If open or short is found in circuit, repair as necessary. If circuit is okay, go to next step.
  3. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Set overdrive switch to ON position. Measure voltage between TCM harness connector terminal No. 13 and ground. Battery voltage should exist. If so, go to next step. If not, check for the following items:
    • Fuse No. 8 (10-amp) blown.
    • O/D OFF indicator bulb burned out.
    • Open circuit between ignition switch and O/D OFF indicator light.
    • Short or open circuit between O/D OFF indicator light and TCM.
  4. Perform TCM input/output signal inspection. See PIN VOLTAGE TESTS . If any voltage measured is not as specified, check TCM connector terminals for damage or loose connection to harness connector. Repair as necessary.
