Rear Brake Pads: Removal

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Nissan Altima, 2003 Nissan Altima, and 2002 Nissan Altima. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: If vehicle has low miles and shims are rusted or show peeling of the rubber coat, replace them with new shims. Whenever the brake pads are replaced, the inner shim, the outer shim and the shim cover have to be replaced as a set.
  1. Remove master cylinder reservoir cap. Remove lower pin bolt, using power tool.
  2. Open cylinder body upward and secure with wire. See Fig 1 . Then remove pad retainers, and inner and outer shims.
