Removal & Installation (Frontier 2.4L & Xterra 2.4L)

  1. Release fuel pressure. See FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE . Disconnect negative battery cable. Disconnect fuel inlet and return hoses. Disconnect fuel injector wiring harness connectors.
  2. Disconnect vacuum hose from pressure regulator. Remove fuel rail bolts. Remove fuel rail with injectors installed, as an assembly. Remove fuel injector retainer from fuel rail, and push injector from fuel rail.
  3. To install, clean injector exterior. Install NEW "O" rings on injectors and lubricate with clean engine oil. Install injector into fuel rail. See Fig 1. Install fuel injector retainers. Tighten fuel injector retainer bolts to specification. Install fuel rail assembly. Tighten fuel rail bolts (in 2 steps) to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Pressurize fuel system and check for fuel leaks.
