Removal And Installation: Removal

CAUTION:
When removing the transaxle assembly from engine, first remove the crankshaft position sensor from the assembly.
Be careful not to damage sensor edge.
- Drain engine coolant.
- Remove battery and bracket.
- Remove air cleaner assembly. Refer to "REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION ".
- Disconnect terminal cord assembly harness connector and park/neutral position (PNP) switch harness connectors.
- Disconnect harness connectors of revolution sensor, ground, mass air flow sensor, and turbine revolution sensor.
- Remove ATF cooler valve assembly bracket bolts.
- Disconnect ATF cooler line retainers.
- Disconnect ATF cooler lines from ATF cooler valve assembly.
- Disconnect control cable at transaxle side.
- Drain ATF.
- Remove push clips and engine undercover.
- Remove upper transaxle to engine bolts.
- Support engine.
- Remove drive shafts. Refer to "REMOVAL, OVERHAUL & INSTALLATION ".
- Remove crankshaft position sensor from transaxle.
- Support transaxle with a jack.
- Remove starter motor from transaxle. Refer to "REMOVAL & INSTALLATION ".
- Remove front suspension member. Refer to "REMOVAL & INSTALLATION ".
- Remove rear cover plate and bolts securing torque converter to drive plate.
- Rotate crankshaft for access to securing bolts.
- Remove lower transaxle to engine bolts.
- Lower transaxle while supporting it with a jack.
- If replacing the transaxle as a unit, remove the LH transaxle mount from the transaxle case.
