Cylinder Block: Inspection: Crankshaft

Check the crankshaft main and pin journals for scoring, wear, or cracks.
Measure the journals for taper and out-of-round.

2. Out-of-round (X-Y) : 0.002 mm (0.0001 in)
3. Taper (A-B) : 0.002 mm (0.0001 in)

Measure crankshaft runout.
1. Place a V-block on a precise flat table to support the journals on the both ends of the crankshaft.
2. Place a dial gauge straight up on the No. 3 journal.
3. While rotating the crankshaft, read the movement of the pointer on the dial gauge.
  1. Runout limit (total indicator reading) : 0.10 mm (0.0039 in)
