DTC Confirmation Test (Overall Function Check)

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Nissan Quest. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: Use the following test to check overall function of EVAP Canister Vent Control Valve (EVAP-CVCV). During this test, DTC may not be confirmed.

Malfunction is detected when EVAP-CVCV remains open under certain driving conditions. Possible causes are:

To check overall function of EVAP-CVCV, disconnect hose from water separator. Disconnect EVAP-CVCV harness connector. See Figure. Using jumper wires, apply battery voltage between EVAP-CVCV terminals. See Figure. Air should not flow through EVAP-CVCV. Remove jumper wires. Air should flow through EVAP-CVCV. If operation is as specified, go to DTC P0440: EVAP CONTROL SYSTEM (SMALL LEAK - NEGATIVE PRESSURE) OR DTC P1440: EVAP CONTROL SYSTEM (SMALL LEAK - POSITIVE PRESSURE) . If operation is not as specified, perform DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE .
