Diagnostic Procedure
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Nissan Quest. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect IACV-AAC valve harness connector. See Fig 1. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and IACV-AAC valve harness connector terminal No. 1 (Blue/Yellow wire). See Fig 2. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exists, repair open or short circuit and retest system. See WIRING DIAGRAMS article.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect ECM harness connector. See Figure. Check continuity of Light Blue wire between IACV-AAC valve harness connector terminal No. 2 and ECM harness connector terminal No. 101. See Figure. Also, check circuit for short to ground and short to voltage. Repair circuit as necessary and retest system. If circuit is okay, go to next step.
- Remove IACV-AAC valve. Measure resistance between IACV-AAC valve connector terminals No. 1 and 2 (component side). Resistance should be about 10 ohms at 68°F (20°C). If resistance is as specified, go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, replace IACV-AAC valve and retest system.
- Check IACV-AAV valve plunger for seizing or sticking. Also, check for broken spring. Using jumper wires, apply battery voltage between IACV-AAC valve terminals. Plunger should move. If problem exists, replace IACV-AAC valve and retest system. If problem does not exist, go to next step.
- No problem is indicated at this time. Problem may be intermittent. See INTERMITTENTS in TROUBLE SHOOTING - NO CODES article.
