Diagnostic Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Nissan Quest. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect ECM harness connector. See Figure. Remove instrument cluster and disconnect harness connectors. Check continuity of Green/Yellow wire between ECM harness connector terminal No. 29 and instrument cluster Black, 12-pin harness connector terminal No. 28. See Figure and Fig 1 . Also, check circuit for short to ground and short to voltage. Repair circuit as necessary and retest system. If circuit is okay, go to next step.
  2. Reconnect all harness connectors. Test drive vehicle and check speedometer operation. If speedometer operates properly, go to next step. If speedometer does not operate properly, repair speedometer or circuit as necessary. See appropriate INSTRUMENT PANELS article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT.
  3. No problem is indicated at this time. Problem may be intermittent. See INTERMITTENTS in TROUBLE SHOOTING - NO CODES article.
