Diagnostic Procedure
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Nissan Quest. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect rear HO2S harness connector located under vehicle, on crossmember. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and rear HO2S harness connector terminal No. 4 (Blue/Yellow wire). See Figure. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open or short circuit and retest system. See WIRING DIAGRAMS article.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect ECM harness connector. See Figure. Check continuity of Yellow wire between rear HO2S harness connector terminal No. 1 and ECM harness connector terminal No. 122. See Figure. Continuity should exist. Also, check circuit for short to ground and short to voltage. Repair circuit as necessary and retest system. If circuit is okay, go to next step.
- Measure resistance between rear HO2S connector terminals No. 1 and 4 (component side). Resistance should be 2.3-4.3 ohms at 77°F (25°C). Check continuity between rear HO2S connector terminal No. 1 and all other rear HO2S connector terminals (component side). Continuity should not exist. Check continuity between rear HO2S connector terminal No. 4 and all other rear HO2S connector terminals (component side). Continuity should not exist. If resistance and continuity are as specified, go to next step. If resistance or continuity is not as specified, replace HO2S and retest system.
- No problem is indicated at this time. Problem may be intermittent. See INTERMITTENTS in TROUBLE SHOOTING - NO CODES article.
