DTC Confirmation Test (Overall Function Test)
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Nissan Sentra. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
Malfunction is detected when rear HO2S response time is too long to switch between rich and lean. Possible causes are:
- HO2S circuit open or shorted or poor connection.
- Defective HO2S.
- Fuel pressure incorrect.
- Defective injectors.
- Intake air leaks.
- Start engine and drive vehicle at a speed of more than 43 MPH for 2 consecutive minutes. Stop vehicle and leave engine running. Measure voltage between ground and ECM terminal No. 95 (White wire) by backprobing. While observing voltage, quickly increase engine speed to 4000 RPM at least 10 times. If voltage changes more than 0.06 volt for 1 second, go to step 3. If voltage does not change more than 0.06 volt for 1 second, go to next step.
- Idle engine for 10 minutes and recheck voltage. Or, drive vehicle and coast from 50 MPH with transmission in 3rd gear (M/T) or in "D" with "OD" turned off (A/T) and recheck voltage. Voltage should change more than 0.06 volt for 1 second, during this test. If voltage changes more than 0.06 volt for 1 second, go to step 3. If voltage does not change more than 0.06 volt for 1 second, perform DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE .
- No problem is indicated at this time.
NOTE:
Use the following test to check overall function of rear HO2S circuit. During this test, DTC may not be confirmed.
