Probable Cause

Malfunction is detected when an excessively low or high voltage from TP sensor No. 2 is sent to ECM. Possible causes are:
- TP sensor No. 2 circuit open or shorted.
- Defective TP sensor No. 2 (electric throttle control actuator).
NOTE:
When malfunction is detected, ECM enters fail-safe mode and MIL illuminates.
- ECM controls electric throttle control actuator in regulating throttle opening in order for idle position to be within plus 10 degrees.
- ECM regulates an opening speed of about 5 seconds for 10 degrees. As a result, acceleration will be poor.
