Diagnostic Procedure
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Nissan Sentra. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect IVT control solenoid valve harness connector. See Figure. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and IVT control solenoid valve harness connector terminal No. 2 (Red wire). If battery voltage exists, go to step 3. If battery voltage does not exist, go to next step.
- Check the following:
- Harness for open or short between IVT control solenoid valve and ECM.
- Harness for open or short between IVT control solenoid valve and ECM relay
Repair as necessary. Perform DTC CONFIRMATION TEST to verify repair.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect ECM harness connector. See Figure. Check continuity between IVT control solenoid valve harness connector terminal No. 1 (Green wire) and ECM harness connector terminal No. 107. See Figure. Also, check harness for short to ground and short to power. If problem is found, repair as necessary. Perform DTC CONFIRMATION TEST to verify repair. If problem is not found, go to next step.
- Check IVT control solenoid valve. Measure resistance between IVT control solenoid valve terminals No. 1 and 2. Approximately 8 ohms @ 68°F (20°C) should exist. Then, check continuity between ground and IVT control solenoid valve terminals No. 1 or 2. There should be no continuity. If IVT control solenoid valve is OK, go to next step. If IVT control solenoid valve is not OK, replace IVT control solenoid valve. Perform DTC CONFIRMATION TEST to verify repair.
- Check for intermittent condition. See INTERMITTENTS in TROUBLESHOOTING - NO CODES article. Perform DTC CONFIRMATION TEST to verify repair.
