DTC Confirmation Test
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Nissan Sentra. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
Use the following test to check overall function of EVAP very small leak function. During this test, a 1st trip DTC may not be confirmed.
NOTE:
If DTC confirmation test has been previously performed, always turn ignition off and wait at least 10 seconds before performing the next test.
NOTE:
If fuel filler cap was removed, fuel tank was filled/drained or any EVAP control system parts were removed, wait at least one hour before performing DTC confirmation test.
NOTE:
Before proceeding, open hood, and ensure battery voltage is more than 11 volts at idle.
- Connect EVAP Service Port Adapter (J41413-OBD) to EVAP service port. See Figure. Connect a suitable pressure pump with hose and gauge to adapter.
- Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, select MODE 8 to close EVAP-CVCV and open vacuum cut valve bypass valve. Apply 0.39 psi (2.7 kPa) to EVAP system.
- Observe gauge for 60 seconds. If pressure drops more than 0.06 psi (0.4 kPa), go to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE . If pressure does not drop more than 0.06 psi (0.4 kPa), go to next step.
- Disconnect scan tool. Start engine and warm to normal operating temperature. Turn ignition off and wait at least 10 seconds. Start engine and let it idle for 90 seconds.
- Hold engine speed at 2000 RPM for 30 seconds. Turn ignition off. For more information, refer to scan tool instruction manual.
