When a misfire is detected on first trip that will damage the catalyst, MIL will flash and ECM will monitor Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor signal every 200 revolutions. If misfire frequency decreases to a level that will not damage the catalyst, MIL will change from flashing to illuminated. MIL will then illuminate every time ignition is turned on.
When a misfire is detected that will not damage the catalyst, MIL will illuminate on second trip and ECM will monitor CKP sensor signal every 1000 revolutions.
