DTC Confirmation Test "D" (Overall Function Check)
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Nissan Sentra. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
Use the following test to check overall function of MAF sensor circuit. During this test, first trip DTC may not be confirmed.
Malfunction "D" is detected when ECM receives a low voltage from MAF sensor under heavy-load driving conditions. Possible causes are:
- MAF sensor circuit open or shorted.
- Intake air leaks.
- Defective MAF sensor.
To check overall function of MAF sensor circuit, start engine and warm to normal operating temperature. Select MODE 1 with scan tool. Observe MAF reading on scan tool while increasing engine speed to 4000 RPM. MAF reading should increase in proportion to engine speed. If operation is not as specified, go to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE .
