DTC Confirmation Test
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Nissan Sentra. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
If DTC confirmation test has been previously performed, always turn ignition off and wait at least 10 seconds before performing next DTC confirmation test.
NOTE:
Before proceeding, ensure ambient temperature is more than 14°F (-10°C) and battery voltage is more than 11 volts at idle.
With CONSULT-II
- Start engine and warm to normal operating temperature.
- Stop engine and wait at least 10 seconds.
- Turn ignition on and select HO2S1 (B1) P1144 or HO2S1 (B2) P1164 of HO2S1 in DTC WORK SUPPORT mode with CONSULT-II.
- Touch START on CONSULT-II screen.
- Start engine and let it idle for at least 3 minutes.NOTE: Never raise engine speed above 3600 RPM after this step. If the engine speed limit is exceeded, return to step 5 .
- When the following conditions are met, TESTING will be displayed on CONSULT-II screen. Maintain these conditions continuously until TESTING changes to COMPLETED (it will take 50 seconds or more).
- ENG SPEED: 1350-2700 RPM (A/T) or 1450-3200 RPM (M/T).
- Vehicle speed: less than 62 MPH.
- B/FUEL SCHDL: 2.6-12.5 msec (A/T) or 2.4-10.0 msec (M/T).
If TESTING is not displayed after 5 minutes, retry from step 2 .
- Press SELF-DIAG RESULTS. If NG is displayed, go to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE . If OK is displayed, system is okay at this time.
NOTE:
Use the following test to check overall function of front HO2S circuit. During this test, 1st trip DTC may not be confirmed.
CAUTION:
DO NOT use ECM ground terminals when measuring voltage.
With Generic Scan Tool (Overall Function Check)
- Start engine and warm to normal operating temperature. Measure voltage between ground and ECM terminal No. 94 (bank 1) or No. 62 (bank 2) by backprobing. See Figure and Figure .
- While observing voltmeter, increase engine speed to 2000 RPM. The following conditions should exist:
- Maximum voltage should be less than .8 volt at least once.
- Minimum voltage should be less than .35 volt at least once.
If voltage is not as specified, go to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE . If voltage is as specified, system is okay at this time.
