DTC P1140 Intake Valve Timing Control Position Sensor: Description

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Nissan Sentra. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The Intake Valve Timing (IVT) control position sensor is located in front of the cylinder head. This sensor detects a signal (intake valve position) generated by the protrusion of camshaft sprocket and sends it to the ECM. This sensor is not used to control the engine system. It is used only for the on-board diagnosis of intake valve timing control.
