Diagnostic Procedure
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Nissan Sentra. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
For circuit wiring diagram, see Fig 1
. For connector identification and locations, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION
.
- Check Power Supply
Turn ignition off. Disconnect IVT control solenoid valve harness connector. See Fig 2 . Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and IVT control solenoid valve harness connector terminal No. 1. See Fig 1 . If battery voltage exists, go to step 3 . If battery voltage does not exist, go to next step. - Detect Malfunctioning Part
Check the following:- Fuse No. 20 (10-amp) located in fuse block under left side of instrument panel.
- Fuse block connector E103.
- Harness connectors F48 and E10.
- Harness for open or short between IVT control solenoid valve and fuse.
Repair as necessary. Perform DTC CONFIRMATION TEST to verify repair.
- Check Output Signal Circuit
Turn ignition off. Disconnect ECM harness connector. See Figure . Check continuity between IVT control solenoid valve harness connector terminal No. 2 and ECM harness connector terminal No. 1. See Fig 1 . Also, check harness for short to ground and short to power. If problem is found, repair as necessary. Perform DTC CONFIRMATION TEST to verify repair. If problem is not found, go to next step. - Check IVT Control Solenoid Valve
Remove IVT control solenoid valve. Check IVT control solenoid valve as shown in illustration. See Fig 3 . If IVT control solenoid valve is okay, go to next step. If IVT control solenoid valve is not okay, replace IVT control solenoid valve. Perform DTC CONFIRMATION TEST to verify repair. - Check For Intermittent
Check for intermittent condition. See INTERMITTENTS in TROUBLE SHOOTING - NO CODES article. Perform DTC CONFIRMATION TEST to verify repair.
