DTC Confirmation Test
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Nissan Sentra. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
If DTC confirmation test has been previously performed, always turn ignition off and wait at least 10 seconds before performing next DTC confirmation test.
With CONSULT-II
- Start engine and warm to normal operating temperature. Turn ignition off and wait at least 120 seconds. Start engine. Select CLSD THL/P SW in DATA MONITOR mode with CONSULT-II.
- CLSD THL/P SW should indicate ON when throttle valve is completely closed and OFF when throttle valve is slightly open. If operation is as specified, go to next step. If operation is not as specified, go to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE .
- Select DATA MONITOR mode with CONSULT-II. Drive vehicle for at least 5 consecutive seconds under the following conditions:
- THRTL POS SEN: more than 2.3 volts.
- VHCL SPEED SE: more than 2 MPH.
NOTE: Driving vehicle uphill (increased engine load) will help maintain driving conditions required for this test. - If 1st trip DTC is detected, go to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE . If 1st trip DTC is not detected, system is okay at this time.
NOTE:
Use the following test to check overall function of closed TP switch circuit. During this test, 1st trip DTC may not be confirmed.
Without CONSULT-II
- Start engine and warm to normal operating temperature. Measure voltage between ground and closed TP switch signal circuit at ECM terminal No. 40 by backprobing. See Figure and Figure .
- At idle, battery voltage should exist. At 2000 RPM, voltage should about zero volts. If voltage is as specified, system is okay at this time. If voltage is not as specified, go to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE .
