DTC Confirmation Test
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Nissan Sentra. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
If DTC confirmation test has been previously performed, always turn ignition off and wait at least 10 seconds before performing the next test.
CAUTION:
Always drive vehicle at a safe speed.
NOTE:
Before proceeding, ensure battery voltage is more than 10 volts at idle and ambient temperature is 41°F (5°C) or more.
With CONSULT-II
- Turn ignition off and wait at least 10 seconds.
- Turn ignition on. Observe COOLAN TEMP/S in DATA MONITOR mode with CONSULT-II.
- If COOLAN TEMP/S value is less than 104°F (40°C), go to step 5 . If COOLAN TEMP/S value is not less than 104°F (40°C), go to next step.
- Park vehicle in a cool place, and allow engine temperature to stabilize. Do not attempt to lower engine coolant temperature with a fan or means other than ambient air. Doing so may produce an inaccurate diagnostic result.
- Start engine and let it idle. Monitor COOLAN TEMP/S value. When COOLAN TEMP/S value reaches 158°F (70°C), immediately go to next step.
- Select EGR SYSTEM P0400 of EGR SYSTEM in DTC WORK SUPPORT mode with CONSULT-II. Press START.
- Accelerate vehicle to a speed of 25 MPH once, then stop vehicle with engine running. If COMPLETED is displayed, go to step 9 . If COMPLETED is not displayed, go to next step.
- When the following conditions are met, TESTING will be displayed on CONSULT-II screen. Maintain conditions continuously until TESTING changes to COMPLETED (it will take 30 seconds or more).
- ENG SPEED: 1200-3600 RPM.
- Vehicle speed: more than 6 MPH.
- B/FUEL SCHDL: 4.5-8.0 msec.
If TESTING is not displayed after 5 minutes, retry from step 2 .
- Press SELF-DIAG RESULTS. If NG is displayed, go to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE . If OK is displayed, system is okay at this time.
With Generic Scan Tool
- Turn ignition off and wait at least 10 seconds. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, select MODE 1, and read engine coolant temperature.
- If engine coolant temperature is less than 104°F (40°C), go to step 5 . If engine coolant temperature is not less than 104°F (40°C), go to next step.
- Park vehicle in a cool place, and allow engine temperature to stabilize. Do not attempt to lower engine coolant temperature with a fan or means other than ambient air. Doing so may produce an inaccurate diagnostic result.
- Start engine and let it idle. When engine coolant temperature reaches 158°F (70°C), immediately go to next step.
- Drive vehicle at a speed of more than 6 MPH with engine speed at 1800-2800 RPM for at least one minute.
- Stop vehicle, then repeat steps 1 - 5 .
- Select MODE 3 on scan tool. If DTC is detected, go to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE . If DTC is not detected, system is okay at this time.
