DTC Confirmation Test
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Nissan Sentra. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
CAUTION:
Always drive vehicle at a safe speed.
NOTE:
If DTC confirmation test has been previously performed, always turn ignition off and wait at least 10 seconds before performing the next test.
With CONSULT-II
- Turn ignition on. Select DATA MONITOR mode with CONSULT-II. Start engine. Drive vehicle at a speed of more than 43 MPH for 2 consecutive minutes. Stop vehicle with engine running. Let engine idle for one minute.
- Maintain the following conditions for at least 5 consecutive seconds:
- ENG SPEED: 1000-3000 RPM (A/T) or 1000-3600 RPM (M/T).
- VHCL SPEED SE: 42-81 MPH.
- B/FUEL SCHDL: 2.0-12.5 msec (A/T) or 2.0-10.0 msec (M/T).
- If 1st trip DTC is detected, go to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE . If 1st trip DTC is not detected, system is okay at this time.
NOTE:
Use the following test to check overall function of HO2S2 circuit. During this test, 1st trip DTC may not be confirmed.
Without CONSULT-II (Overall Function Check)
- Start engine. Drive vehicle at a speed of more than 43 MPH for 2 consecutive minutes. Stop vehicle with engine running.
- Measure voltage between ground and ECM terminal No. 63 (bank 1) or No. 95 (bank 2) by backprobing. See Figure . See Figure or Figure .
- While monitoring voltage, snap throttle to 4000 RPM at least 10 times. Voltage should remain less than 2 volts during this procedure.
- If voltage is not as specified, go to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE . If voltage is as specified, system is okay at this time.
