DTC Confirmation Test

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Nissan Sentra. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
CAUTION: Always drive vehicle at a safe speed.
NOTE: If DTC confirmation test has been previously performed, always turn ignition off and wait at least 10 seconds before performing the next test.
NOTE: Before proceeding, ensure battery voltage is more than 11 volts at idle.

With CONSULT-II

  1. Start engine and warm to normal operating temperature.
  2. Select HO2S1 (B1) P0134 or HO2S1 (B2) P0154 in DTC WORK SUPPORT mode with CONSULT-II.
  3. Press START.
  4. Allow engine to idle for at least 3.5 minutes.
NOTE: DO NOT exceed 3600 RPM. If engine speed exceeds 3600 RPM, return to step  4 .
  5. When the following conditions are met, TESTING will be displayed on CONSULT-II screen:
    • ENG SPEED: 1600-3400 RPM (A/T) or 1900-4100 RPM (M/T).
    • Vehicle speed: more than 40 MPH.
    • B/FUEL SCHDL: 2.4-12.5 msec (A/T) or 2.8-10.0 msec (M/T).

Maintain conditions continuously until TESTING changes to COMPLETED (it will take 10-60 seconds). If TESTING is not displayed after 5 minutes, retry from step  2 .

  6. Press SELF-DIAG RESULTS. If NG is displayed, go to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE  . If OK is displayed, system is okay at this time.
NOTE: Use the following test to check overall function of HO2S1 circuit. During this test, 1st trip DTC may not be confirmed.

Without CONSULT-II (Overall Function Check)

  1. Start engine and warm to normal operating temperature. Measure voltage between ground and ECM terminal No. 62 (bank 1) or No. 94 (bank 2) by backprobing. See Figure . See Figure or Figure .
  2. While observing voltmeter, increase engine speed to 2000 RPM. Voltage should not remain in the .2-.4 volt range. If voltage is not as specified, go to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE  . If voltage is as specified, system is okay at this time.
