DTC Confirmation Test

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Nissan Sentra. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
CAUTION: Always drive vehicle at a safe speed.
NOTE: If DTC confirmation test has been previously performed, always turn ignition off and wait at least 10 seconds before performing the next test.

With CONSULT-II

  1. Start engine and warm to normal operating temperature.
  2. Stop engine and wait at least 10 seconds.
  3. Turn ignition on and select HO2S1 (B1) P0133 or HO2S1 (B2) P0153 of HO2S1 in DTC WORK SUPPORT mode with CONSULT-II.
  4. Touch START on CONSULT-II screen.
  5. Start engine and let it idle for at least 3.5 minutes.
NOTE: Never raise engine speed above 3600 RPM after this step. If the engine speed limit is exceeded, return to step  5 .
  6. When the following conditions are met, TESTING will be displayed on CONSULT-II screen. Maintain these conditions continuously until TESTING changes to COMPLETED (it will take about 20 seconds).
    • ENG SPEED: 1950-3200 RPM (A/T) or 2300-3750 RPM (M/T).
    • Vehicle speed: more than 50 MPH.
    • B/FUEL SCHDL: 3.5-12.5 msec (A/T) or 3-10 msec (M/T).

If TESTING is not displayed after 5 minutes, retry from step  2 .

  7. Press SELF-DIAG RESULTS. If NG is displayed, go to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE  . If OK is displayed, system is okay at this time.
NOTE: Use the following test to check overall function of HO2S1 circuit. During this test, 1st trip DTC may not be confirmed.
CAUTION: DO NOT use ECM ground terminals when measuring voltage.

Without CONSULT-II (Overall Function Check)

  1. Start engine and warm to normal operating temperature. Measure voltage between ground and ECM terminal No. 62 (bank 1) or No. 94 (bank 2) by backprobing. See Figure . See Figure or Figure .
  2. While observing voltmeter, increase engine speed to 2000 RPM. Voltage should cycle from less than .3 volt to more than .6 volt and back more than 5 times within 10 seconds. If voltage is not as specified, go to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE  . If voltage is as specified, system is okay at this time.
