DTC Confirmation Test "C"

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Nissan Sentra. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

With CONSULT-II

  1. Start engine and warm to normal operating temperature. Turn ignition off and wait at least 10 seconds. Turn ignition on.
  2. Select MANU TRIG in DATA MONITOR mode with CONSULT-II. Select THRTL POS SEN and ABSOL TH-P/S.
  3. Press RECORD on CONSULT-II screen at the same time accelerator pedal is depressed. Print out recorded graph. See Fig 1 .
  4. Voltage should be as follows:
    • Voltage rise should be linear in response to accelerator pedal position.
    • Voltage when accelerator pedal is fully depressed should be about 4 volts.

    If voltage is as specified, go to next step. If voltage is not as specified, go to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE  .

  5. Select AUTO TRIG in DATA MONITOR mode with CONSULT-II. Maintain the following conditions for at least 10 consecutive seconds:
    • ENG SPEED: more than 2000 RPM.
    • MAS AIR/FL SE: more than 3 volts.
    • COOLANT TEMP/S: more than 158°F (70°C).
    • Driving location: driving vehicle uphill (increased engine load) will help maintain the driving conditions required for this test.
  6. If 1st trip DTC is detected, go to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE  . If 1st trip DTC is not detected, system is okay at this time.

With Generic Scan Tool

  1. Maintain the following conditions for at least 10 consecutive seconds:
    • Engine speed: more than 2000 RPM.
    • Engine coolant temperature: more than 158°F (70°C).
    • Voltage between ECM terminal No. 61 (MAF sensor signal) and ground: more than 3 volts.
  2. If 1st trip DTC is detected, go to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE  . If 1st trip DTC is not detected, system is okay at this time.
