DTC Confirmation Test "D"
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Nissan Sentra. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
With CONSULT-II
- Turn ignition on. Start engine and warm to normal operating temperature. If engine cannot be started, go to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE .
- Select DATA MONITOR mode with CONSULT-II. Observe MAS A/F SE-B1 voltage reading on CONSULT-II while increasing engine speed to 4000 RPM.
- There should be a linear voltage rise in response to engine speed increase. If voltage is as specified, go to next step. If voltage is not as specified, go to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE .
- Maintain the following conditions for at least 10 consecutive seconds:
- ENG SPEED: more than 2000 RPM.
- THRTL POS SEN: more than 3 volts.
- Driving location: driving vehicle uphill (increased engine load) will help maintain the driving conditions required for this test.
- If 1st trip DTC is detected, go to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE . If 1st trip DTC is not detected, system is okay at this time.
NOTE:
Use the following procedure to check overall function of MAF sensor circuit. During this test, 1st trip DTC may not be confirmed.
With Generic Scan Tool
- Turn ignition on. Start engine and warm to normal operating temperature. Select MODE 1 with scan tool. Observe MAF sensor signal reading on scan tool while increasing engine speed to 4000 RPM.
- There should be a linear voltage rise in response to engine speed increase. If voltage is not as specified, go to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE . If voltage is as specified, system is okay at this time.
