Air Bag Warning Light Stays On

- If air bag module has been deployed, make appropriate repairs to vehicle. See POST-COLLISION INSPECTION . If air bag module has not been deployed, go to next step.
- Check for faulty AIR BAG fuse in fuse block located on left side of instrument panel. If fuse is not okay, go to next step. If fuse is okay, go to step 4 .
- Replace AIR BAG fuse. Turn ignition on. If AIR BAG fuse blows again, repair main wiring harness. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If fuse does not blow, system is okay.
- Connect CONSULT tester to Data Link Connector (DLC), located on left side of instrument panel, using CONSULT CONVERTER. See Figure . Turn ignition on. Touch START (NISSAN BASED VHCL) on CONSULT tester. IF AIR BAG is displayed on CONSULT tester, go to next step. If AIR BAG is not displayed on CONSULT tester screen, inspect diagnosis sensor unit harness connector. If connector is damaged, replace harness. If connector is okay, replace diagnosis sensor unit. See DIAGNOSIS SENSOR UNIT under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Check harness connectors between diagnosis sensor unit and AIR BAG warning light for proper connections. If connectors are connected properly, replace diagnosis sensor unit. See DIAGNOSIS SENSOR UNIT under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If connectors are not connected properly, reconnect properly. If AIR BAG warning light still stays on, replace wiring harness.
