On-Vehicle Deployment (Scrapped Vehicle)

WARNING:
Components are very hot after deployment. Personal injury may result. Wait at least 30 minutes before handling an air bag module and 10 minutes before handling a seat belt pretensioner.

- Park vehicle outdoors with at least 20 feet (6 m) of open space around vehicle. Disable air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM . Place a fully-charged 12-volt battery 16 feet (5 m) from vehicle.
- Disconnect air bag module and seat belt pretensioner connectors. Connect Deployment Tool (J38381) lead to appropriate component using correct adapter, if required. For driver-side air bag module and seat belt pretensioners, use Deployment Tool Adapter (J38381-80). For passenger-side and side air bag modules, use Deployment Tool Adapter (J38381-35).
- Connect deployment tool to deployment battery. Right light (deployment tool power) should glow Green. If deployment tool power light glows Red, reverse battery connections and recheck lamp. Ensure no one is within 16 feet (5 m) of air bag module or seat belt pretensioner. Press deployment tool button. Left light (air bag connector voltage) on deployment tool will glow and selected component will deploy.
