Removal & Installation (2WD Models)

NOTE: Replace rear extension assembly as a unit because it cannot be disassembled.
  1. Remove drive shaft.
  2. Remove exhaust mounting and mounting bracket. See Fig 1 .

  3. Disconnect revolution and speedometer sensor harness connector.
  4. Support transmission assembly with a jack.
  5. Remove rear engine crossmember.
  6. Remove rear extension assembly. Insert your hand between rear extension and transmission case. Detach rear extension assembly while holding parking gear and needle bearing by hand. See Fig 2 .

  7. Remove parking gear and needle bearing.
  8. Reinstall any part removed. Always use new sealing parts. Tighten bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  . Check fluid level and fill as necessary.
