Removal (4WD Vehicles)

- Raise and support vehicle. Remove wheel. Remove brake caliper bolts, and wire caliper out of way.
- Separate axle shaft from hub by lightly tapping axle shaft inward with a block of wood. Remove lock washer from hub. Remove wheel bearing lock nut. See Figure . Use Bearing Lock Nut Puller (KV40105400) to remove wheel bearing lock nut. Remove outer bearing and wheel hub assembly.
- Remove grease seal and inner wheel bearing. Use a brass drift to remove inner and outer races (if necessary). Wash wheel bearings in solvent, and air dry with compressed air. DO NOT spin bearings with air. Inspect bearings and races for damage or excessive wear. Replace as necessary.
