Removal (4WD Vehicles)

  1. Raise and support vehicle. Remove wheel. Remove ABS wheel sensor connector. Remove brake caliper bolts, and wire caliper out of way. Remove drive flange attaching bolts, and remove drive flange. Separate axle shaft from hub by lightly tapping axle shaft inward with a block of wood. Remove lock washer from hub.
  2. Remove wheel bearing lock nut. See Figure . To remove wheel bearing lock nut, use Bearing Lock Nut Puller (KV40105400). Remove outer bearing and wheel hub assembly. Remove knuckle-to-strut bolts.
  3. Remove tie rod end cotter pin and stud nut. Remove tie rod end using Remover (ST29020001). Support transverse link with floor jack or jackstand. Remove ball joint-to-knuckle nut. Separate knuckle from lower ball joint.
