Reassembly (Inboard Side)

  1. Mount axle shaft in vise.
  2. Wrap tape around shaft splines.
  3. Install small clamp, boot and slide joint housing onto shaft.
  4. Install spider assembly, with chamfer facing shaft, aligning marks made during disassembly.
  5. Install NEW snap ring.
  6. Pack inboard joint with 3.35-3.70 ozs. (95-105 g) of grease.
  7. Install joint assembly, aligning marks made during disassembly.
  8. Position boot to correct length. Inboard boot length should be 3.74-3.82 in. (95.0-97.0 mm). See Fig 1 .
  9. Lock boot clamps in place using hammer and punch. See Fig 2 .
