Disassembly (Inboard Side)

  1. Mount axle shaft in vise.
  2. Using a hammer, tap lightly around slide joint housing to remove plug seal. See Fig 1 .
  3. Remove boot clamps. See Fig 2 .
  4. Mark slide joint housing in relation to axle shaft for reassembly reference.
  5. Remove snap ring.
  6. Remove spider assembly from axle shaft using press.
  7. Wrap splines of axle shaft with protective tape to protect joint boot.
  8. Remove inboard side boot from axle shaft.
