Disassembly (Outer Joint)

  1. Place axle shaft into a soft-jaw vise, with outer joint facing up.
  2. Remove boot clamps and slide boot away from joints
  3. Using sliding hammer, or suitable tool, screw in tool 1.18 in. (30 mm), or longer, into threaded part of joint sub-assembly. Separate joint from axle shaft. See Fig 1 .

  4. Remove boot.
  5. Remove circlip from left axle shaft.
  6. While rotating ball cage, remove old grease from joint.
