Disassembly (Inner Joint)

  1. Place axle shaft into soft-jaw vise, with inner joint facing up.
  2. Remove boot clamps. See Fig 1 and Fig 2 .

  3. Remove circlip and dust shield from slide joint housing on left axle shaft.
  4. Mark slide joint housing and axle shaft in relation to each other for reassembly reference.
  5. Remove stopper ring with flat-bladed screwdriver, and pull out slide joint housing.
  6. Mark spider assembly-to-drive shaft location for reassembly reference.
  7. Remove snap ring and then spider assembly.
  8. Remove boot. Cover axle shaft splines with vinyl tape to prevent damage to boots.
  9. Remove old grease from slide joint assembly.
