Description & Operation: Notes

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Nissan Maxima. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Cooling fans are controlled by cooling fan relays which are regulated by the ECCS Control Module (ECM) based upon various input signals. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  and Fig 1 . For cooling fan operation, see Fig 2 .

The ECM controls the cooling fan corresponding to the vehicle speed, engine coolant temperature, refrigerant pressure, and air conditioner ON signal. The control system has 4-step control (HIGH/MIDDLE/LOW/OFF). The ECM controls cooling fan relays in the IPDM E/R through CAN communication line.
