Disassembly (Outer Joint)

NOTE: Outer joint can be removed from axle shaft, but cannot be disassembled.

Place axle shaft into a soft-jaw vise, with outer joint facing up.
Mark slide joint housing and axle shaft location for reassembly reference.
Separate joint with suitable tool. Use caution to not damage the threads on the axle shaft. See Fig 1 .

Remove boot clamps.
Remove boot.
