Master Cylinder: Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Nissan Pathfinder, 2003 Nissan Pathfinder, and 2002 Nissan Pathfinder. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
CAUTION: Refill with new brake fluid "DOT 3". Never reuse drained brake fluid.
  1. Place master cylinder onto brake booster and tighten mounting nuts to 9-11 ft. lbs. (12-15 N.m). Fill up reservoir tank with new brake fluid. Plug all ports on master cylinder with fingers to prevent air suction while releasing brake pedal.
  2. Have driver depress brake pedal slowly several times until no air comes out of master cylinder. Fit brake lines to master cylinder and tighten flare nuts to 11-13 ft. lbs. (15-17 N.m). Bleed air from brake system. See BLEEDING BRAKE SYSTEM  .
