DTC Confirmation Test

A/T control circuits are used to control shifting during hard acceleration or deceleration. Malfunction is detected when PCM receives incorrect voltage from A/T control portion of the PCM. Possible causes are:
- The communication line circuit between ECM and TCM (Transmission Control Module) is open or shorted.
- Dead (Weak) battery.
- Defective TCM (Transmission Control Module).
Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). See Figure . Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, select DATA MONITOR. Wait at least 40 seconds. If first trip DTC is sets, perform DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE . If first trip DTC is not set, problem may be intermittent. See TESTING PROCEDURE under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
