DTC Confirmation Test (Overall Function Check)
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Nissan Sentra. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
Use the following test to check overall function of EVAP Canister Vent Control Valve (EVAP-CVCV). During this test, DTC may not be confirmed.
Malfunction is detected when EVAP-CVCV remains open under certain driving conditions. Possible causes are:
- Defective EVAP-CVCV.
- Faulty EVAP Control System Pressure Sensor (EVAP-CSPS) or circuit.
- Blockage in EVAP-CVCV hose.
- Defective water separator.
- EVAP canister saturated with water.
- Defective vacuum cut valve.
Disconnect vacuum hose from water separator. See Figure . Disconnect EVAP-CVCV harness connector. Using jumper wires, apply battery voltage and ground between EVAP-CVCV terminals. See Figure . Air should not flow through EVAP-CVCV. Remove jumper wires. Air should flow through EVAP-CVCV. If operation is as specified, go to DTC P0442: EVAP CONTROL SYSTEM . If operation is not as specified, perform DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE .
