DTC Confirmation Test

Malfunction is detected when incorrect voltage signal is sent to PCM through intake valve timing control solenoid valve. Possible causes are:

Connect Scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). See Figure . Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, select DATA MONITOR. Wait at least 5 seconds. If a first trip DTC is retrieved, perform DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE  . If DTC is not set, problem may be intermittent. See TESTING PROCEDURE  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
