Diagnostic Procedure

Remove Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor. See Figure . Measure resistance between ECT sensor terminals (component side), with sensor at specified temperatures. See ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE (ECT) SENSOR RESISTANCE  table. If resistance is not as specified, replace ECT sensor and retest system. If resistance is as specified, inspection is complete.

(1) Resistance should decrease as temperature increases. See Figure .
