DTC Confirmation Test "A"

NOTE:
Before performing confirmation test "A" ensure battery voltage is greater than 10 volts when engine is idling.
Malfunction "A" is detected when PCM receives an excessively low or high voltage from TP sensor. PCM will enter fail-safe mode. Possible causes are:
- TP sensor circuit open or shorted.
- Defective TP sensor.
Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). See Figure . Using scan tool, select DATA MONITOR. Start engine and drive vehicle for at least 5 seconds at 2 MPH or more. Ensure transmission is not in Neutral. If first trip DTC is sets, perform DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE . If first trip DTC is not set, perform next confirmation test.
