DTC Confirmation Test (DTC P0117 & DTC P0118)

Malfunction is detected when PCM receives an excessively low or high voltage from ECT sensor. Possible causes are:
- ECT sensor circuit open or shorted.
- Defective ECT sensor.
Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). See Figure . Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, select DATA MONITOR. Wait 5 seconds. If DTC is set, perform DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE . If DTC is not set, problem may be intermittent. See TESTING PROCEDURE .
