DTC Confirmation Test "D" (Overall Function Check)
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Nissan Sentra. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
Use the following procedure to check overall function of MAF sensor circuit. During this test, DTC may not be confirmed. If engine can not be started, perform DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE
.
Malfunction is detected when PCM receives an excessively low voltage from MAF sensor voltage under heavy-load driving conditions. Possible causes are:
- MAF sensor circuit open or shorted.
- Intake air leaks.
- Defective MAF sensor.
Start engine and warm to normal operating temperature. Using scan tool, check mass airflow sensor signal. While monitoring scan tool, increase engine speed to 4000 RPM. Mass airflow sensor signal should increase with RPM. If signal does not respond as described, perform DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE . If signal responds as described, problem may be intermittent. See TESTING PROCEDURE under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
