Diagnostic Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Nissan Sentra. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect rear HO2S (sensor 2) harness connector. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 3 (Blue/Yellow wire) at rear HO2S harness connector. See Figure . If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open or short in Blue/Yellow wire between HO2S and fuse box, then retest system.
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect PCM harness connector. See Figure . Check continuity of Red/Black wire between terminal No. 2 at rear HO2S harness connector and terminal No. 11 at PCM harness connector. See Figure . Continuity should exist. Also check circuit for short to ground and short to voltage. If problem exists, repair as necessary and retest system. If problem does not exist, go to next step.
  3. Measure resistance between terminals No. 2 and 3 at rear HO2S connector (component side). Resistance should be 2.3-4.3 ohms at 77°F (25°C). Check continuity between terminal No. 1 and all other terminals at rear HO2S connector (component side). Continuity should not exist. Check continuity between terminal No. 4 and all other terminals at rear HO2S connector (component side). Continuity should not exist. If resistance and continuity are as specified, go to next step. If resistance or continuity is not as specified, replace HO2S (sensor 2) and retest system.
  4. No problem is indicated at this time. Problem may be intermittent. See TESTING PROCEDURE  .
