Removal & Installation

  1. Release fuel pressure. See FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE .
  2. Disconnect negative battery cable.
  3. Remove maintenance access cover located under or behind rear seat.

  5. Disconnect harness connectors and fuel tubes from upper plate of fuel level sensor unit.
    NOTE: Put mating marks on tubes for correct installation.

  6. Remove fuel pump retainer screws.
  7. Using care to not spill residual fuel from fuel pump and fuel level sensor unit, remove fuel pump from fuel tank.

  9. To install, reverse removal procedure.
    NOTE: Face fuel level sensor unit as shown in the figure below, and install it with knock pin on back aligned with knock pin hole on fuel tank.

  10. Tighten fuel pump bolts or fuel pump lock ring to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
