Removal & Installation

The Altima uses a Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor harness connector. See Fig 1. The 2.5L uses a single CMP sensor harness connector, the sensor is on the rear of the engine above the engine coolant temperature sensor harness connector. See Fig 2. The 3.5L uses two CMP sensor harness connectors located on the front of the engine. See Fig 3.

  1. Loosen the fixing bolt of the sensor;
  2. Disconnect camshaft position sensor (PHASE) harness connector.
  3. Remove the sensor.
  4. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
