Fuel Rails & Injectors (2.5L): Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Nissan Altima. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Tighten components to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .

  1. Install new "O" rings on the fuel injector. Lubricate the "O" rings lightly with new engine oil. Be careful not to scratch the "O" ring during installation. Also be careful not to twist or stretch the "O" ring. If the "O" ring was stretched while it is attached, do not insert it into the fuel tube immediately. Tighten components to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  2. Install the fuel tube with the following procedure:
    • Do not reuse the clip, replace it with a new one. See Fig 3.
    • Insert the new clip into the clip mounting groove on a fuel injector. See Fig 3.
    • Insert the clip so that projection "A" of the fuel injector matches notch "A" of the clip. See Fig 3.
  3. Insert fuel injector into fuel tube with clip attached:
    • Insert it while matching it to the axial center. See Fig 3.
    • Insert fuel injector so that projection "B" Of the fuel injector matches notch "B" of the clip. See Fig 3.
    • Make sure that the fuel tube flange is securely fixed in flange fixing groove on the clip. See Fig 3.
    • Make sure that the installation is complete by checking that the fuel injector does not rotate or come off.
  4. Install the intake collector. See Figure.
  5. Connect the fuel hose quick connector. See Fig 4.
  6. Installation of the remaining components is the reverse order of removal. Tighten components to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
NOTE: Use mirrors for checking fuel system areas out of direct line of sight.
  7. Inspect the installed components, make sure that there is no fuel leakage at the connections, by applying fuel pressure to lines by turning ignition switch ON, with engine not running. Then check for fuel leaks at connections and along fuel lines. Repair any leaks.
CAUTION: Allow engine to cool before performing repairs to fuel system to avoid possible ignition and fire.
  8. Start the engine and rev it up. Inspect connections and lines for leaks. Use caution and repair any leaks in the fuel system.
CAUTION: Do not touch engine immediately after stopping as engine is extremely hot.
  9. Perform Throttle Valve Closed Position Learning after finishing repairs. See THROTTLE VALVE CLOSED POSITION LEARNING .
  10. If electric throttle control actuator is replaced, perform procedures for Idle Air Volume Learning after finishing repairs. See IDLE AIR VOLUME LEARNING .
